International experts in the economics of health care have gathered to explore effective policy and cutting-edge methods for health technology assessment (HTA) of drugs and medical devices in the UK and China.
Held in Shanghai on the 3rd and 4th September 2021, the masterclass workshop explored the experience of implementing HTA processes internationally, lessons and methods used by NICE in the UK and in China. Presentations were delivered by leading experts in health technology assessment of drugs and medical devices, drawn from across the multidisciplinary HTA ecosystem, including: HTA regulators (NICE); HTA assessors (YHEC); commissioners (UK NHS Supply Chain); and academics (York and Fudan).
Sessions were chaired by the UK-China Health and Economy Partnership (UK-CHEP)聽Leads, Professor of Health Economics Cynthia Iglesias (University of York), and Professors Chen Wen (Fudan University) and Andrea Manca (University of York).
UK-CHEP supports participating universities so they can work together to create significant impact for both the British and Chinese people and economy by engaging in long-term projects and knowledge collaborations that generate new expertise in health economics and health policy, and aims to:
- Help build mutual understanding and deepen and broaden collaboration between participating universities by sharing research and educational opportunities that help deliver the goals of China鈥檚 鈥淒ouble First Class鈥� programme.
- Promote international collaboration between world-class academics in China and the UK uninterrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The York-Fudan masterclass is organised in the context of the UK-China Health and Economy Partnership (UK-CHEP), which promotes long-term collaboration in health economics and Health Technology Assessment in the UK and China. The UK-CHEP programme is a selection of university partnerships coordinated by 新加坡多多开奖记录 and is overseen by the British Council, China. The British Council gratefully received philanthropic sponsorship for the programme from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Charities.
This partnership promotes long-term collaboration in health economics and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) between four UK universities, 新加坡多多开奖记录, University of Leeds, University of Sheffield, University of York, and three Chinese universities, Zhejiang University, Fudan University and Shandong University.
Led by 新加坡多多开奖记录, the partnership was originally launched in Jinan, Shandong province in November 2017.
