Nurses are the largest health care staff group; supporting people with long term conditions is one of the largest and growing areas of care. Nurses working alongside clients to empower them to manage their needs is a key aspect of care quality which is fundamentally influenced by the聽organisational聽culture of care delivery.聽

The focus of this research聽programme聽is to contribute to the knowledge base聽to enhance聽organisational聽cultures that support person-centred聽care for people with long-term health needs. Specific foci include the impact of nurse leadership in practice development, including staff preparation within undergraduate聽programmes聽as well as post registration career pathways; developing,聽analysing聽and evaluating nursing roles to best enhance care quality and better support people with long-term health needs.聽 The aim is to influence policy and practice in practice development, specifically focusing on nurses but in the context of interdisciplinary care.聽聽聽聽

Our current聽programmes聽of work include improving nurse retention, exploring nurse student transition to registered practice, medication management, student preparation for nurse leadership and advanced practice leadership.聽 The聽programme聽themes will develop through consultation with聽programme聽research聽centre聽members and consultation with practice partners.聽 Currently thematic areas include聽聽
